Thinking of exploring Lanzarote this summer? The fourth largest Canary Island is an ideal holiday destination as it offers great weather, lots to do and plenty of good quality places to stay. All at very reasonable prices. Lanzarote is one of the seven Canary Islands which sit off the coast of West Africa and which were once referred to as the Fortunate Islands. Due to their incredible year round climate which is sometimes said to resemble an eternal spring time. This isn’t entirely accurate as during the summer months temperatures can reach well into the 30´s. But during the winter the climate is incredibly clement – enabling visitors to enjoy days on the beach even in December.

HOLIDAYS IN LANZAROTE are widely available from all of the leading tour operators, such as Thomson and First Choice. As the island is epically popular with tourists from the UK, its largest market. Along with substantial groups of visitors from Eire, Germany and mainland Spain too. There are three main tourist resorts on Lanzarote – which are all well contained and located on the calm south eastern coastline. And rural tourism is also on the rise – thanks to the fact that the island boasts a fine selection of rural hotels and fincas. The majority of guests however opt to stay in LANZAROTE HOLIDAY VILLAS or apartments – as self catering breaks are especially popular here. Thanks largely to the fact that these types of break offer excellent value for money – with a weeks stay in a standard apartment starting from around €180. For those how prefer to let someone else do the cooking and cleaning whilst they are on holiday there are plenty of good quality LANZAROTE HOTELS to select from too.

The best of which can be found in the southern resort of Playa Blanca. The resorts are home to some great beaches but the finest stretches of sand are located in more remote areas. Such as Famara in the north and Papagayo in the south. So visitors are well advised to hire a car and explore. This also gives them the freedom to tour pretty little villages such as Haria and Yaiza as well as the historic former capital of Teguise. Which is home to some great colonial buildings dating back as far as the 15th century. Such as the impressive house musem the Palacio de Spinola.
